Eyelashes

Historically, I was your above average tom boy. Sneakers, basketball shorts, sports, guy friends, eating contests, the works. My mom basically had to beat me into a dress and those gawd awful ruffley socks. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I started wearing dresses, buying heels, or curling my hair by choice. And then there's beauty products. Liiike what is that even. But in tranforming into a girlier Sam, I will share with you my adventures down the beauty aisle. Because even I know that only 5% of the myriad bottles and tubes even work. So it is up to us to share our first hand experiences with our fellow females.

First project: EYELASHES. I find that I only need to spend $5 on mascara, what with the drying out, not to mention the excellent selection of drug store products. but recently I made a couple of larger investments towards my eyelashes.

I have sparse eyelashes, probably from rubbing my eyes too much as a child. So I tried Talika Lipocils, which is a clear gel you apply to your lashes like you would any mascara. It's made with ingredients that promote eyelash growth, guaranteeing results in 28 days. It sounds like a crock full of shit, but I can attest that it is really working for me! I'm at day 21, and I have noticed that my lashes are longer and look fuller.

The taming of the Shu. People rave about this hunk of twisted shiny metal, but I've always resisted buying into the designer Shu Uemura eyelash curler. However Sephora managed to break me down, and I rationalized that as long as I don't lose the curler, it's $19 I will never have to spend again. And O. to the M. G. it is exceptional. It is money well spent! The curl is amazing!

ooh la la! As far as drug store mascaras go, I'm liking the Maybelline Intense XXL. It's light enough to stay curled for dayss! :D

Oooh, I wanna try that Lipocils thing now! (Such a weird name!) And I just use Maybelline Great Lash, can't go wrong with that... I also use a Shu Uemera eyelash curler, it's supposed to be for flatter Asian eyes and I love it! I actually need to replace my rubber pad because I use it so much that it's splitting!

this is funny, because just this week...driving down wilshire...i was thinking that sans that weird encounter with LIPLINER in 8th grade the older I get the more makeup I am applying. I'm pretty sure every time the brush hits lid more goes on. One day if im lucky my eyelids will soon turn to smokey bliss a la http://www.knighttcat.com/2009/03/wideeyes.html

"transforming into a girlier sam..." i love it! i am a huge shu uemura eyelash curler fan. i resisted too but caved to the peer pressure. now i absolutely can't live without. i also caved with dior show mascara which i only use for galavanting. for everyday use i go with the cheapy e.l.f. and it works just as great! happy lashing :)
