Something Borrowed
Something OLD. Sure...
Something NEW. Definitely...
Something BORROWED. Hmmm......
Bagborroworsteal.com appeals to fashionistas on a budget, who through their membership have the opportunity to rent designer handbags (and more!) on a week to week basis. Making it's film debut in the estrogen-tickling Sex and the City movie, the whole concept got me thinking...would I ever rent a handbag?
Personally, I don't think I'd ever indulge in a rent-a-bag. I think the great part of carrying a killer bag on your arm is knowing that it's yours. Whether you saved for 2 years to get it, or you swiped your plastic without batting an eyelash, it's yours. The smell of a brand new, never worn tote...the way you treat it like a infant child for the first 2 weeks. The sense of pride that girls get when they catch other women ogling their purse, and the satisfying thought that follows, "Yes, it's mine biotch." And when you're not using it, you smile knowing that it's tucked away in YOUR treasure trove of handbags. And honestly, if I rented a bag, I would be so bummed to mail it back.
That's just me...What are your thoughts? Would you rent a handbag?

i agree whole heartedly! i could not rent a bag knowing that other girls had it on their arms before me. and then there's that awkward question u might have to answer when ppl ask "is that new?" haha. cool idea, but not for me!
no, definitely not for me. I don't like the idea of not owning it and making it mine (the little stains, the aging, and other stuff that is BOUND to happen when you own a handbag)
I agree with you!
yeahh im not sure about this whole thing.
i think its stupid to "rent" a designer bag.
there are sooo many cool/gorgeous bags that are affordable and not designer.
i agree, i only wanna carry it if i know its mine. otherwise its like im kidding myself
i completely agree with you. plus, all your very personal belongings get toted around in your handbag and its sort of weird to have residue from other girls belongings lurking.
and, what is tdf? post an outfit pic of today!!
i forgot to add that i do think the concept of that site is very cool regardless.
i've never been into fake bags, since that feeling like i didn't own the real thing feels quite similar to this situation. even if i'm carrying a real bag, it wouldn't feel fun knowing that it didn't belong to me! oh and yay for women in advertising in la (myself included) :)
I wouldn't like to rent bags. Honestly, it would make me depressed to realize that I would only have the bag for a limited amount of time.
Thank you ladies for your feedback!
Yes I agree it is a cool idea, just maybe not for me...i love OWNING my shit! hehe
